If you weren't in Dallas for NSteXpo 2003 you should first hang your head in shame, then put it on your calendar for next year. I flew out to this years event (sans NSX) on Saturday morning, completely missing the dinner/open house/Dali Boostzilla release party at Goodson Acura. That's OK, I made it in time for the dyno day and dinner. There were around 20 cars there and some great numbers were being put up. Dinner at Fogo de Chao was a huge time, 40 people, good NSX tales and more meat than you have ever seen (other than on the web). Sunday brought out 8 1/2 NSXs (see pics) for the scenic drive around Dallas/FW. I had a little breakfast w/Mark Johnson and Chris, took a look at all the neat carbon fiber body parts that I missed from Friday night, and caught up with a couple great guys. Some notable highlights were; of course Dali Racing and the Boostzilla - this SC setup looks great and has been built for safety FIRST and performance second. Anybody can crank up the boost to the edge, and the car will be fast as hell right up until the head gaskets squirt and the pistons burn through. If testing and kit options come out as planned, these should be available this summer starting around $5k and up. The key of course is fuel managment, and it looks like they got it squared away. I look forward to seeing this baby released! Dali was also showing the new CF body kit. The quality is top notch and as soon as we know what they cost I may be in the market. The guys from EXP4 Performance Additives were on hand with their new formula fuel and oil products. One dyno test showed a 10hp gain after using their stuff - and it keeps oil temps down! I'll try it at the next track event and see how it performs. Check them out! Dinner at FDC was wonderful. There was an "NSX Story" contest with a couple bottles of fine wine as prizes. It was nice talking with all the great people I met at past NSXPOs, getting asked a few N2O questions, and laughing a lot. The only problem was the prime parking spot reserved for all the NSXs was next to a curb, and the sprinklers came on covering them all with a nice even spray of hard water. Nice. The gathering of people at 7:45am Sunday for the drive was fun. I took pics and chatted with everyone, but having no NSX, I let them go on there merry way. Next year, I'll have the car with me or steal one from Susan... I picked up a few goodies from Dali while I was there; Front Aerorotors, rear slotted rotors, new pads, SRF fluid and window fixit thingies. Hats off to Eric Robbins, Kip, Mark, Chris and Susan Tableman for yet another excellent event. Speaking of, where was the NSXCA sponsorship here? Some of the people coming to this event aren't members and we could have used some membership forms, hats, shirts and representation. This event is getting bigger and better every year and soon will rival the NSXPO! We are talking about track time for next year - lets get it together! |
